Insecure Request Error when Downloading Backup File from MainWP

Hello MainWP Community,

I’m facing an issue when trying to download a backup file through the MainWP dashboard. Whenever I click on the download link, I receive the following error message:

Error:
“Insecure request! Please try again. If you keep experiencing the problem, please review MainWP Knowledgebase, and if you still have issues, please let us know in the MainWP Community.”

Steps I’ve Taken

  • Cleared browser cache and cookies
  • Ensured that MainWP and WordPress are updated to the latest versions
  • Checked file permissions (directories set to 755 and files set to 644)
  • Disabled security plugins (Wordfence, iThemes Security) temporarily
  • Tested in incognito mode with the same result
  • Reviewed the MainWP Knowledgebase but couldn’t find a solution

Has anyone else experienced this issue or know how to resolve it? Could it be related to server settings (ModSecurity, firewall, etc.) or nonce validation?

Thank you for the detailed bug report.

We are aware of this issue, and the fix for it will be included in the next release of the UpdraftPlus extension.

We don’t have an exact ETA for the release at this moment.
