UPDRAFT: Pro Version Challenges with Google Drive and Backup Creation

Hello All -

We are new users of MainWP, but longtime developers and users of ManageWP. We love the program so far.

We have selected UpDraftPro as our preferred backup solution. Two immediate support needs:

  1. BACKUP FAILS TO COMPLETE FOR A CERTAIN SITE: We have received a couple of errors including “Google Drive not Registered”, and “Zip File too large”. In the log file we also see “4000.637 (9) The backup attempt has finished, apparently unsuccessfully”. Below is a longer snippet of the log file (too long for full post here). Please advise on fix.

  2. NAMING OF FILES IN GOOGLE DRIVE: Right now in Drive, we see that UpDraft created a folder where it stores backups and each backup is named numerically (ie. backup_2022-09-28-1809_My_WordPress_23c4c900d2f3-db). This does not help us distinguish which client backup it might be. Please help us to quickly be able to find specific client backkups. Can we set each site to have client name in the backups?

These questions have nothing to do with MainWP, so you should contact UpdraftPlus Support

But in short:

  1. Google Drive has not been authorized correctly. If the zip file is too large, maybe there’s not enough room on the drive or the webhost is limiting the file size.
  2. The website name is in the file name, as you can see in the log.

Hi Jos -

Thanks for your thoughts I don’t think you are official MainWP support? No, the website name is not in the file name on Google Drive. This is all we see on Google Drive: “backup_2022-09-28-1809_My_WordPress_23c4c900d2f3-plugins”

We WILL check with the webhost as you suggest. Still hoping someone here simply knows the answer and can help us puzzle this out.

Welcome to the MainWP community!

This indeed doesn’t appear to be related to MainWP but an issue with the UpdraftPlus plugin, so contacting their support may indeed be the best option.

As for the naming scheme of the UpdraftPlus files - I do believe the Site Title is included in the file names, and in your example backup_2022-09-28-1809_My_WordPress_23c4c900d2f3-db, that would be My WordPress. Perhaps that could help when trying to distinguish which client backup it might be.
